With the Chime in hand, you can enter the Mirage Tower. This chapter takes you through the tower and into the Flying Fortress above, where Tiamat - the final elemental Fiend - guards the Wind Crystal.
Mirage Tower
Fly to the desert on the northeastern continent. The shimmering Mirage Tower rises from its center. Land nearby, walk in, and use the Chime to open the entrance.

Three floors of enemies and treasure. The monsters here are tough, but the gear makes it worthwhile. Check the bestiary for enemy weaknesses.
Treasure Room
The central room has chests with an Aegis Shield (high defense with magic resistance - give it to your Knight) and a Healing Helm (casts Heal as an item, infinite uses). Grab both before climbing.
Dragon Mail
More treasure rooms. The key finds: Sun Blade (extra damage against undead), Dragon Mail (excellent Knight armor), and Thor's Hammer (casts Thundara when used as an item).
Blue Dragon
A Blue Dragon guards the teleporter at the top. It has 454 HP, resists Lightning, and hits hard with physical attacks and Thunderbolt breath. Don't bother with Thundaga. Cast Haste and Temper on your Knight, keep your healer on Curaga duty, and beat it down with physical attacks.
After the dragon falls, use the Warp Cube from Waterfall Cavern on the teleporter. You're transported to the Flying Fortress.
Flying Fortress
A high-tech dungeon floating in the sky. Five floors of robotic enemies, powerful treasure, and Tiamat at the end.

Key Treasure
Don't rush through. The treasure here matters for the endgame:
- Adamantite - Critical item. You'll forge Excalibur with this after the dungeon.
- Ribbon - Another one for your collection. Protects against all status effects.
- Sasuke's Blade - Strong weapon for your Ninja.
Warmech
On the long bridge of Floor 5, there's a rare chance to encounter Warmech. This is a superboss - stronger than Tiamat, with 2,000 HP and a Nuke attack that can wipe your party.

Most players run if they see it. If you want to fight, cast NulBlaze (Nuke is fire-based), stack every defensive buff you have, and hope for the best. The encounter rate is low - you can avoid it entirely by saving often and resetting if it appears.
Tiamat, Fiend of Wind
At the end of Floor 5, Tiamat guards the Wind Crystal.

Defeat Tiamat and the Wind Crystal is restored. All four crystals now shine. Use the portal to exit.
Forging Excalibur
Before heading to the final dungeon, fly to Mt. Duergar (the Dwarf Cave from the Elfheim section). Find Smyth the blacksmith in the northern room. Show him the Adamantite and he forges Excalibur - one of the strongest swords in the game.

Equip it on your Knight immediately. You'll need it for what's coming.
With all four crystals restored and Excalibur in hand, it's time to end this. Fly to Cornelia and rest at the inn. Stock up on Potions, Hi-Potions, Ethers, and Phoenix Downs. Visit Gaia or Onrac for the best supplies. Your next destination: the Chaos Shrine, where your journey began.
Treasure Chests
Both dungeons have excellent endgame equipment:
- Mirage Tower - Aegis Shield, Healing Helm, Vorpal Sword, Sun Blade, Thor's Hammer, Dragon Mail
- Flying Fortress - Adamantite, Ribbon, Sasuke's Blade, White Robe, Black Robe, Protect Ring
